A Glimpse Into My Working Method
Eagle Eye

Copyright

Opening up some of my sketchbooks, I rediscovered a project that changed course. It was a commission for a half-sized flying bald eagle, but it morphed into a kestrel fighting a snake. Anyway, the sketchbook was dedicated to documenting the eagle, and nothing else, so there are only five pages with any kind of content.

Nothing else is in that book but Eagle – and nothing else will be in that book but Eagle.

Because I hope there will come a time when I can make that eagle fly.

I’ll let the photos tell the story of the planning, the research, and the immersion. Pretty much all my projects are done like this, but end up as loose bits of paper and notes in a file folder.

Thinking about the pose. Love the pose – hate the mounting idea.
